Displacement and migration related to disasters, climate change and environmental degradation 11–12 May 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden. The Conference was organised in connection to the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU. Speakers reflected upon policy and practical measures already in place and future challenges.
The aim of the conference was to explore the impact of climate change on global migration patterns. It also discussed what could be done in the future to address the impacts of climate change on displacement and migration, both in terms of foreign and development policies and in relation to policy frameworks for migration.
The Conference explored new strategies and policies to meet these challenges of climate related displacement and migration and look at some of the possible impacts on the labour markets and economic migration. The results of the joint EMN-OEDC inform "Displacement and migration related to disasters, climate change and environmental degradation" carried out in 2022, were presented in the context of the conference.
