The EMN Asylum and Migration Glossary has an updated website and app

The European Migration Network (EMN) has launched a new version of its EMN Asylum and Migration Glossary and an updated website and app. The glossary forms an important resource containing 540 current terms and definitions in the field of migration, translated into 27 languages (excluding Danish).

The EMN Glossary makes it easier for decision-makers, policy officers, professionals and other stakeholders to understand and use the same terminology, both within the EU and at national level. It has been developed in close cooperation with experts from, for example, the EMN National Contact Points, the European Commission, EU institutions and EU agencies such as the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).

These updates ensure that the glossary will align with the terminology used in the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum and take into account upcoming changes in the field of migration.

The new website and app feature several improvements:

• 540 quality-assured and up-to-date terms and definitions.
• Available in several user-friendly formats.
• Translations into 27 languages, including previously untranslated languages
  such as Georgian, Ukrainian, Armenian and Serbian/Montenegrin.
• Easy search and navigation by topic or alphabetical order.
• Offline access via the app.
• Integration with the European Commission’s eTranslation tool.
• Regular updates in line with the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum.

The glossary is now available online, and a new version of the EMN Glossary app provides easy access to the content wherever you are. In addition to English, definitions of the terms are available in Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian and Latvian. This development reflects the growing number of EMN Observer Countries and makes the glossary useful to the general public.
