EMN study on the application of the Temporary Protection Directive in 2023

The EMN study “Application of the Temporary Protection Directive:” provides an overview of developments during the first half of 2023. The study builds on insights from previous reports and provides an overview of the concrete measures implemented by 25 EMN Member Countries. The report highlights opportunities and challenges relating to registration via e-services, legal status, mobility to other EU Countries and residence permits for other reasons. Some countries have introduced legislative amendments, while others have focused on concrete measures and pilot projects to foster integration. Priority areas and initiatives vary across EMN Member Countries.

EMN Sweden presents a national report

EMN Sweden has produced a national report on the implementation of the Temporary Protection Directive up to November 2024. The report provides a comprehensive overview of challenges and good practices, as well as the current situation in Sweden. One of the most significant changes for beneficiaries of international protection is the government’s decision to make it easier for this group to obtain a personal identity number. In this way, they gained the right to be registered in theSwedish Population Register, with the associated rights to education, healthcare, social assistance and welfare, with certain exceptions.

EMN report on children in migration

The comparative EMN report “Children in Migration 2021-2022:” describes how EU Member Countries worked in 2021–2022 to ensure the protection of children in migration processes and the measures taken in relation to, among other things, children’s care, accommodation, transition to adulthood, return and integration. Accordingly, the report also assesses the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations in the 2017 Communication on “The protection of children in migration".
