In 2022, the EMN published comparative studies addressing issues relating to the situation of migrant women within the EU and trafficking in human beings. EMN study on the situation of migrant women in the EU

The comparative EMN study “Integration of migrant women in the EU:” summarises the situation in 30 EU Member and Observer Countries between 2016 and 2021. It highlights similarities and differences across the EU, and the policies and measures in place to improve the position of migrant women, not only in the labour market, but in society as a whole. A number of measures are in place to combat discrimination, the lack of social networks and to ensure childcare that does not restrict women.

EMN Sweden presents a national report

The national report highlights a politically prioritised issue: the position of foreign-born women in Swedish society. Among other things, the report, covering the period 2016–2021, addresses the question of why foreign-born women have a lower employment rate compared with both foreign-born men and Swedish-born women. One problem is that a large proportion of these women lack the skills and experience demanded in the Swedish labour market. They also come from countries where women traditionally do not work outside the home but take on greater responsibility for family and domestic work. Another problem is the discrimination that exists, which affects highly educated foreign-born women. The study highlights both the challenges that exist, such as socio-economic segregation, and the measures that have been taken to promote greater gender equality.

EMN study on trafficking in human beings in EU States, Norway and Georgia

The comparative EMN study “Third-country national victims of trafficking in human beings:” is based on national reports from 25 EU States, as well as Norway and Georgia. It provides an overview of how these countries work to identify and protect victims of trafficking in human beings. The study covers the period 2015–2020.
