National Contact Point

EMN Sweden is Sweden’s National Contact Point within the European Migration Network (EMN). The National Contact Point is located at the Swedish Migration Agency, within the Office of International Affairs, which is part of the Office of the Director-General.

EMN Sweden is responsible for coordinating, implementing and promoting the national work of the EMN, as well as expanding the national network. The EMN Sweden serves as a link between Sweden and the European network.

Today, the EMN consists of 36 National Contact Points (NCPs) in EMN Member and Observer Countries. The National Contact Points meet regularly to discuss the implementation and development of the work and to exchange information and experiences.

Structure and Activities

EMN Sweden produces national reports, coordinates information gathering and contributes to knowledge sharing through EMN publications. We also respond to ad hoc queries within the network.

At the Swedish Migration Agency, a coordinator and a group of experts work on EMN-related matters. The work includes, among other things, implementation of the annual programme of activities, coordination of EMN activities in Sweden, communication and development of the national network. It consists of a wide range of organisations, researchers and professionals working in the field of migration and asylum.

Through targeted communication activities, we promote EMN publications. Through our channels, we create opportunities for cooperation with stakeholders in the migration and asylum field, enabling them to access and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience within the EMN. This is done through activities such as seminars, roundtable discussions and newsletters, which strengthen EMN Sweden’s role as a knowledge partner within both its national and international networks.

EMN Sweden’s work also includes budget management, administration, and support for the planning and implementation of EMN activities at the national level.
