Mandate and Tasks

According to Council Decision 2008/381/EG, the EMN has the following tasks:

• Collect and exchange up-to-date, reliable and comparable information om migration and asylum from a wide range of sources.
• Analyse and present information and data in an accessible format.
• In collaboration with relevant EU bodies, contribute to the development of indicators and criteria to improve the quality and comparability of migration information and statistics.
• Produce reports, studies and other publications on migration and asylum developments at both EU and national level.
• Maintain an information-sharing system which provides access to relevant documents and publications in the area of migration and asylum.
• Increase awareness of EMN activities by sharing information and outputs, unless this information is of a confidential nature.
• Cooperate and exchange information with relevant European and international organisations working om migration and asylum issues.
